A cast iron umbrella stand is a great feature to add to your bedroom. There is nothing quite like waking up to a vase of fresh flowers to put you in a great mood for the day. If you don’t like flowers perhaps because you are allergic you can still use one of these beautiful stands as an ornament in your room.

It is amazing just how versatile these pieces are. Some of them as so beautiful it would be a shame to leave them in the corner of the foyer being overshadowed by the umbrellas they are holding. If you are lucky to have an open fireplace in your living room you may already have invested in a cast iron fire surround. A lot of these intricate carvings are based either on the Victorian era when carvings of birds, love statues and other natural objects were very fashionable or the Art Noveau period when everything was so beautifully decorated.

Decorating your home and garden is a matter of personal taste but it helps when you keep in style with the design of your home. If you live in a period home, you expect to find period features inside and out. A cast iron umbrella stand in the foyer sets the tone as does one on the patio if you have invested in iron garden furniture.

Regardless of where in your home you are going to locate these iron pieces you must take care to look after them. As they are made from metal they are liable to rust and will have to be protected with an anti rust agent every so often. They may also need repainting every four or five years depending on their location. If you plan on using a cast iron umbrella stand in the kitchen or bathroom a wrought iron alternative may be a better option.
